Red Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi)
Before SS grades, bloody marys, and fire reds ever existed, there was just the plain red Neocaridina davidi that started the entire freshwater shrimp hobby — cherry shrimp are still the benchmark every fancier color line gets measured against. Hardy enough to shrug off a beginner's mistakes and prolific enough to fill a tank on its own, it's the reason most shrimp keepers got into this hobby in the first place.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful · Max size: ~1.5" · Min tank: 5 gal · Diet: Algae, biofilm, shrimp-safe foods
