Rio Negro Leopard Pleco
The Rio Negro is one of the most famous blackwater rivers in the world, so dark and tannin-stained from decomposing leaf litter that it earned the name (Portuguese for "black river"), and it's home to some of the most soft-water-adapted fish in the hobby. This leopard-spotted pleco comes from exactly that lineage, though it's adaptable enough in captivity to do fine outside true blackwater conditions. A real showpiece for larger community tanks we set up around New Milford.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful · Max size: ~15" · Min tank: 75 gal · Diet: Omnivore, algae wafers/veggies
