Roundtail Fighting Betta (Betta splendens)
This is closer to the working betta than the show-line fancy stuff, a rounded tail and shorter fins tracing straight back to the strains Thai breeders kept for actual competitive sparring long before anyone cared about halfmoon spreads. Bred now purely for color and temperament rather than the fighting pits, but the stocky build and quick reflexes are still there. Solo housing, he still reads any rival as a threat.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Aggressive toward other bettas · Max size: ~3" · Min tank: 5 gal · Diet: Carnivore, betta pellets + frozen
