Saddleback Leopard Grouper
Saddleback Leopard Groupers wear a dark saddle patch across the back half of the body over a canvas of small leopard-like spots, patterning that actually shifts with the color phase the fish settles into as it matures. It hunts by ambush like the rest of the family, relying on a burst of speed and a suction-strike mouth rather than a long chase. A striking, hardy predator that needs real swimming room once it's grown.
