Tank-Raised Colombian Redfin Tetra (Hyphessobrycon columbianus)
Hyphessobrycon columbianus comes out of Colombia's Llanos river basin and gets farmed heavily there for exactly the reason you'd guess, that deep body and saturated red fin wash reads as a centerpiece-grade tetra rather than a background schooler. Tank-raised stock adjusts to captive water parameters faster than wild-caught fish and comes in noticeably hardier. Give it a real group and open swimming room and the whole school picks up that red-fin shimmer together.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful, shoaling · Max size: ~2.5" · Min tank: 20 gal · Diet: Omnivore, flake/pellet
