Trumpetnose Knife

That elongated, tube-like snout is built for ram-suction feeding: snapping forward and flaring open in a fraction of a second creates a sudden vacuum that pulls prey in from a short distance, letting the fish strike without covering the final few inches with its whole body. It's the same basic mechanism seahorses and pipefish use in miniature, just scaled up onto a genuine predator.
